Santa's Takin' Over The Town

(An Album Of All-Original Christmas Songs)

Christmas Is Near

Written by: Rehya Stevens & Brian Steckler

Trim the tree, stoke the fire
Hang the holly once again
Deck the halls everywhere
Though outside it’s cold and drear
Christmas time is drawing near

All the bluebirds have gone
But the new bird sings a song
Singin’ fa la la la la la la la

Frolic and be free for awhile
Celebrate the season tonight
Winter’s calling card is here
Light the candles dim the lights
There's evergreen in the air
Christmas is near

Bundle up, cozy tight
Let’s take a trip to town
Catch a show, see the sights
Passersby spread good cheer
Christmas time is drawing near

All the bluebirds have gone
But the new bird sings a song
Singin' fa la la la la la la la

Let’s frolic and be free for awhile
Celebrate the season tonight
Winter’s calling card is here
Toast to family and friends
And gather 'round the tree
Christmas is here
Christmas is here

Don't Be Late
Written by: Rehya Stevens & Brian Steckler

We put nine tin reindeer up on the roof
Santa's on his way and that is the truth
And we can hardly wait for Christmas morn'

We frosted window panes for all to see
Striped candy canes aglow on the tree
With a pair of roller skates and caramel corn

Santa, we have worked hard
We hope you won't be late
We even put some carols on
And put your favorite cookies
on the shiniest plate
With a cup of cocoa kiddie corner
Fit for a saint

We want a choo-choo train
That circles around
That whistles and chugs
A choo-choo train sound
And we can hardly wait to blow the horn
At 5 am when we light up the tree
With stockings stuffed tight as can be
But we can't stand the waiting anymore

Santa we have tried so hard
So hurry, don't be late
We even put some carols on
And put your favorite cookies
On the shiniest plate
With a jug of milk kiddie corner
Fit for a saint
So hurry up, hurry up
Santa, don't be late

Santa's Takin' Over The Town
Written by: Rehya Stevens & Brian Steckler

Donner and Blitzen
Are itchin’ gettin’ ready to fly
Prancer and Vixen
Are polishin’ them reindeer smiles
Dancer’s showin’ Comet
How to rock it in the new freestyle

All the village elves
Are workin’ through the night
Stockin’ up the shelves
From the left and to the right

Gettin’ it done
Cuz Santa’s Takin’ Over the Town
Click your heels and run, Rudolf
Cuz Santa’s takin’ over the town

Bobby’s got a school play
Jenny’s got the lead in the choir
The baby’s got a toothache
With no pacifier
In traffic all the way
It’s like she’s screamin’ through an amplifier

Momma needs a break
Papa wants a drink
Oh for heaven's sake
Everybody’s on the brink

It won't won't be long
'Til Santa's takin' over the town
Tell everyone
That Santa's takin' over the town
Let's have some fun
Let Santa take over the town
Like a son of a gun
Santa’s takin’ over the town

Oooo!
C'mon Rudolf, run!
I think I see a sleigh
Maybe we should stay up
To hear some hooves on the roof
What do you think?
I hope it won't be too long

Cuz all the little kids
They're tryin’ to tow the line
But somethings gotta give
Before lose their little  minds

It won’t be long
‘Til Santa’s takin' over the town
They’ll be awake before the dawn
Cuz Santa’s takin’ over the town
Let's have some fun
Let Santa take over the town
Like a son of a gun
Santa’s takin’ over the town

Be My Baby By Christmas Night
Written by Rehya Stevens & Brian Steckler

Last year I was happy as could be
When you were here with me oh, oh, oh, oh
Now you’re gone and I’m in misery
Wishin’ you would come home ho-o-o-ome
I don’t want to spend December
With anyone at all

If I ain’t with you, you
I’ll be lonely and blue, blue
Hopin’ that you miss me too, ooh
Won’t you make my dreams come true
Be my baby by Christmas night

Toys & presents underneath the tree
They don’t mean a thing, no (oh oh oh)
Friends they call, but I just let it ring
Cuz I don’t feel the cheer at all
I don’t wanna hear about
The fun that’s goin' on

If I ain’t with you, you
I’ll be lonely and blue, blue
Hopin’ that you miss me too, ooh
Won’t you make my dreams come true
Be my baby by Christmas night

There’s no joy that Santa can bring me
On his magic sleigh
There’s nothin’ for me to celebrate
No, I won’t even stay up on December 24th

If I ain’t with you, you
There’s nothin’ Santa can do
So I’m hopin’ that you’ll come on thru, thru
Won’t you make my dream come true

Oh, If I ain’t with you, you
I’ll be lonely and blue, blue
Hopin’ that you miss me too, ooh
Won’t you make my dreams come true
Be my baby by Christmas night
Come home by Christmas night
Be my baby by Christmas night
Oh! Baby oh baby!
Ooo
Be my baby by Christmas night

Early Winter
Written by: Rehya Stevens

Spring is gone, summer went by way too fast
Fall slipped away she never seems to last
Then it all gets hazy until the leaves go

I remember when you came around every day
You'd crack me up with all the funny things you’d say
Then it all got crazy, I still hear the thunder roll

Oh, I wish it was December
But no, it’s just an early winter
It’s an early winter

Now there’s nowhere to go but in my head
So I travel back to careless the words we said
And it’s colder in my world than on the frozen street now

Remember when we used to
stay up late at night
Dreamin’ 'bout the future and it looked so bright
But the clouds rolled in and darkness crashed down

Oh, It’s not even December
No, It’s just an early winter
We had an early winter

Now we’re forever paused somewhere in time
Underneath the snow where beauty hides
And it all looks dreary until the sun shines

Oh, it's not even December
Oh, it’s just an early winter
No, it's not even December
No, It’s just an early winter
We had an early winter

Christmas is Comin' Again
Written by: Rehya Stevens

Bells are ringin’
All the way to Tinsel Town
Everybody knows that sound
Christmas is comin’ again

So let’s go walkin’
Foggin’ up the frosty air
And leave behind our every care
‘Cos Christmas is comin’ again

Let’s go skate around the ice at Caribou Park
Sip hot cocoa on our way home in the dark
Through misty silver lanes aglowin' it’s pretty clear
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year

Bells are ringin’
All the world's a tinsel town
Everybody loves that sound
Christmas is comin’ again

Let’s go build a snowman down at Evergreen Farm
A distinguished gentleman with a wooden cigar
We’ll tell him he’s the king of the whole frontier
Hey, Christmas only comes but one time of the year

Bells are ringin’
All the world’s a Tinsel Town
Don't you love that happy sound
Christmas is comin’ again
Christmas is comin’ again
Christmas is comin' again

Wonderful World Tonight
Written by: Rehya Stevens & Brian Steckler

Leave the record spinnin’ “Let it Snow”
Shall we go
Put on our mittens and our warm wooly hats
Let's go play out in the winter white world tonight

Off and away we go, hand in hand
With red rosy cheeks and a couple of friends
Let's go make a little magic in town
It’s a winter white world tonight

While Santa's chuggin' along
We can dance all night into the dawn
The band is rockin' all the merry songs

Then maybe we can take it slow
A gentle toe to toe
Feelin’ sentimental and romantical
Let’s get cozy when the lights dim low
In a winter white world tonight

While Santa's chuggin' along
We can dance all night into the dawn
The band is serenading us along

While Santa's chug-chug-chuggin' along
We can rock all night into the dawn
The band is serenading us along

Then later on we’ll take a stroll
And head on down the road
To toast a cup of cheer back at our abode
And watch the sun come up on Christmas morn’
To a wonderful of white
It’s a wonderful world tonight
Such a wonderful world tonight

Me, Myself & I
Written by: Rehya Stevens & Brian Steckler

I’ve done it again
I let everybody down
There are no friends
Left for me in this town

It may be lonely, I may be ashamed
But I've still got company at the end of the day

With me, myself & I
Up to no good
Me, myself & I
In this old neighborhood
Well if angels really try
Hell, I’ll knock on wood
Between me, myself & I
I’m just misunderstood

I never mean to do so much harm
I just get weak when I should be strong
So year after year I find myself at the bar
From December 24th until New Year's Eve

With me, myself and I
Up to no good
With me, myself & I
In the wrong neighborhood
Well if angels wanna try
Hell, I’ll knock on wood
Between me, myself & I
I’m just misunderstood

It's me, myself and I
Up to no good
Me, myself & I
In the wrong neighborhood
And if angels really try
I’ll knock on wood
Between me, myself & I
I’m just misunderstood
Between me, myself & I
I ain't no good

Welcome One & All
Written by: Rehya Stevens & Brian Steckler

You don’t have to be an angel singing
Strumming a harp of gold
You don’t have to be a Wiseman leading
Sheep into the fold
To welcome one & all

So gather around ye, weary travelers
Coming from near and far
No matter what the road you traverse
Please come as you are
Please come as you are

Whether you sing "Hallelujah"
Or never said "Amen"
Gather 'round in the spirit
Of peace on earth and good will to men

Are you alone adrift in wandering
An unfamiliar road
Or have you amends to make this morning
Peace has come to call
Peace has come to call

Whether you sing "Hallelujah"
Or never said "Amen"
Gather 'round in the spirit
Of peace on earth and good will to men

Everywhere
Every sister every brother
No need for despair
No need to be self-righteous

'Cos you don’t have to be an angel singing
Strumming a harp of gold
You don’t have to be a Wiseman leading
Sheep into the fold
To welcome one & all
We're welcome one & all

Spread a Little Love for Christmas
Written by: Rehya Stevens & Brian Steckler

Everybody got places to go
So many things to do oh-oh
And we feel the ru-u-ush
No time to take it slow

Wouldn’t it feel better
To get together
And take a break
For goodness sake

Oh, oh yeah-eh oh
This is our time
Oh, oh yeah-eh oh
Our time to party

Come on over
Pull up a seat yeah
We'll have a good time
And spread a little love for Christmas
It’s snowing outside
We got a fire here
So whatcha drinkin’
Spread a little love Christmas
Spread a little love
Spread a little love
Yeah -Yeah, Yeah -Yeah

We all got somethin’ special
So special to share
Ain’t that beautiful
So beautiful, yeah yeah
So let’s get comfortable
And take a break
For goodness sake

Oh, oh yeah-eh oh
This is your time
Oh yeah-eh oh
Your time to party

Come on over
Pull up a seat yeah
We’ll have a good time
Let’s spread a little love for Christmas
From the island to the bayou
Whatcha drinkin’, oh
Let’s spread a little love for Christmas

So come on over
Pull up a seat yeah
We'll have a good time
Spread a little love for Christmas
From the East Coast
To California
To Africa, yeah
Spread a little love

All around the world
Everybody come party for Christmas
It’s party time
Gather round, raise a glass and spread some love
All around the world
Everybody come party for Christmas
Yeah
Everybody gather round to share the love

Spread a little love
Where you hangin’ out
Everybody out there
Spread a little love, spread a little love
Where you hangin’ out
Everybody out there
Spread a little love for Christmas

Wonderland of Winter
Written by: Rehya Stevens & Tom Keane

Silver white snowflakes
Are falling on peppermint tongues
Sweet notes of cinnamon with evergreen
Float on the breeze
As soon as December comes

Holly & mistletoe
beckoning lovers to find
Mystery packages under the tree
shimmer with curls that wind
When December comes

It’s a wonderful time of the year
Such a wonderful time of the year

Bundle up tight
Let’s go caroling out in the snow
I heard the weatherman say that it might
Be twenty below
When December comes

BRIDGE:
Even though the skies are dark and gray
The cardinal, she sings her song
Echoing so sweetly in refrain
It’s a winter wonderland
Wonderland

Interlude...

BRIDGE:
Even though the skies are dark and gray
The cardinal, still sings her song
Echoing such beauty in refrain
In a winter wonderland

It’s a wonderland of winter
Winter wonderland
It’s a wonderland of winter
Winter wonderland

It’s a wonderland of winter
Winter wonderland
It’s a wonderland of winter
Winter wonderland

It’s a wonderful time of the year
Winter wonderland
Such a wonderful time of the year
Winter wonderland
It’s a wonderland of winter
Winter wonderland

The Old Red Sleigh
Written by: Rehya Stevens

Santy Claus is loadin’ up the old red sleigh
Jingalin’ all the way
Full of good cheer for little girls and boys
Jingalin’ all the way

Rudolph is shinin’ up his bright red nose
Jingalin’ all the way

It’s time for bed
Tuck your toesies in tight
And you better stay put ‘cos the man in red
Is coming down the chimney tonight

Sweet Sugar plum dreams of the old red sleigh
Jingalin’  all the way
Full of good cheer for little girls and boys
Jing-jing-a-lin’ all the way

Jing-jingalin'
Jingalin' all the way
Jing-jing
Jing-jingalin'
Jingalin' all the way

Such a beautiful sight
Tucked in stockings hung in a row
For all you kiddies to find

Jingalin’ all the way
Bringin’ happiness to little girls and boys
All around on Christmas day

Marry Me For Christmas
Written by: Rehya Stevens

You’ve got me so high, so light
I could fly home
Just like the snow

Ooo wee ooo wee
Will you marry me for Christmas
Ooo wee ooo wee
Let’s honeymoon through new years eve

You’re lookin so tight Mr. Right
Like the star of a movie show
And I’m all dressed up in white tonight
There’s no better place to go

Hear the sleigh bells
Jinglin all the way
To a place where
We’ll go to say I do, I do
And merry Christmas too

Hear the sleigh bells
Jinglin all the way
To a place where
We’ll go to say I do, I do
And merry Christmas too

Ooo wee ooo wee
Say you’ll marry me
Ooo wee ooo wee
Let’s honeymoon through new years eve
Ooo wee ooo wee
Say you’ll marry me
Come on…
Let’s call up the minister down the road
Pick up some flowers from Annies
I hear she’s got a new fellow
What’s his name, Stanley?
Tell her to bring that little Yorkie of hers
(Laugh)
He’s so cute!

Christmas In My Heart
Written By: Rehya Stevens

Pretty lights
Sparkling through window panes
Children wait listening for Santa’s sleigh

Evergreen, pumpkin pie
And carols fill the air
Laughter by the fireside
And memories to share

Christmas time is here again
Time for love, good cheer and happiness
For me a you
It’s Christmas everywhere
And it’s ours  to share

But the most magical thing of all
Aren’t the reindeer who fly
It’s the mistletoe that’s occupied
By you and I
That makes it Christmas time
In my heart tonight
Tonight
Tonight

Christmas is Coming Soon
Written by: Rehya Stevens

Put up the evergreen
It's a necessity
Christmas is coming soon
Trim all the branches
For the circumstances
For Christmas is coming soon

Get the house a 'glowing
The snow blowers blowing
Yes, Christmas is coming soon
The dogs are a'barking
The carols are harking
Yes, Christmas is coming soon

Call the chimney sweep
Then head down to the beauty shop
For you don't want to be unprepared
Rsvp to the neighbor's down the block
They host the event of the year

Get dressed for the party
Try not be tardy
For Christmas is coming soon
Bring something delightful, delicious to die for
For Christmas is coming soon

Pick up a bottle of wine
From the little corner store
Drop by the post office too
Only to find there's a line around the door
There's simply too much to do

Squeeze sugar white mountains
On gingerbread houses
For Christmas is coming soon
The kids are debating
And your head is aching
But, Christmas is coming soon

The clock is tick tocking
So hang up those stockings
Yes, Christmas is coming soon
And finish the shopping
While stores are a'hopping
Yes, Christmas is coming soon

Wrap the presents up
Then tie each one with a bow
You don't want to be unprepared
Let the chestnuts pop by the fire
Oh, heaven knows
There's not one detail to spare

The kitchens a'splatter
With gravy and batter
And Christmas is coming soon
The Dishes are clanging
The door knocker's banging
And Christmas is coming soon

Toast to family friends
Hey, let's pour another round
Reminisce and share all this is new
Fill up your plate there's enough to go around
And plenty of leftovers too

Wearily, wearily
Tuck the kids into bed
Christmas is coming soon
Ever contrarily
They'll sleep but barely
'Cos Christmas is coming soon

Happy, happy joyful
We gather round the hearth
At 5 am in the morning
After presents let's go
Build a snowman in the yard
And by half past noon we'll be snoring

Gone is a flurry
The hustle, the hurry
The new year is 'round the bend
With new stories to tell
We must say our farewells
'Til the season comes 'round again
'Til the season comes 'round again

Santa, Won’t You Hurry?
Written by: Rehya Stevens & Tom Keane

Sleigh bells are ringin’ all over town
Carolers sing along to the sound
Of people everywhere celebrating
A merry Christmas

Shoppers rush like a merry go round
Merrily with the treasures they’ve found
People everywhere anticipating
A merry Christmas

But I don’t care about the presents
underneath my tree
But I’m beggin’ you
Santa, please - there’s one thing I need

I know you’ve got a lot of things to do
But, Santa won’t you hurry?
Cuz I’m here waiting patiently
Oh, Santa I’m tryin’ not to worry
I know you’ve gotta take it up with your crew
But, Santa won’t you hurry?
Swoop on by my roof
And bring my baby right down my chimney

'Tis the season for parties and shows
Invitations from people you know
And everywhere you go are salutations
"Have a merry Christmas"
And every night when you light up the tree
Is one more chance to make a new memory
With everything aglow for merry making
A merry Christmas

But I’ll just hang the mistletoe
And hold my pillow tight
Dreamin’ of just one thing to
To make it right
There's on thing I need

I know you’ve got a lot of things to do
But, Santa won’t you hurry?
Cuz I’ve been waiting patiently
Oh, Santa I’m tryin’ not to worry
I know you've gotta take it up with your crew
But, Santa won’t you hurry?
Swoop on by my roof
And bring my baby right down my chimney

I’ve been oh-so-good this year
I hope you feel inspired
To bring me just one thing
I need tonight
Santa, make it alright

I know you’ve got a lot of things to do
But, Santa won’t you hurry?
Cuz I’m here waiting patiently
Oh, Santa I’m tryin’ not to worry
I'm sure you’ve gotta take it up with your crew
But, Santa won’t you hurry?
Swoop on by my roof
And bring my baby right down my chimney

Santa Santa, Santa won't you hurry?
Santa won't you hurry?
Cuz I’m here waiting patiently
Oh, Santa I’m tryin’ not to worry
I'm sure you’ve gotta take it up with your crew
But, Santa won’t you hurry?
Swoop on by my roof
And bring my baby right down my chimney

Santa Santa, Santa won't you hurry?
I need my baby...
Santa Santa, Santa won't you hurry?

Please Come Home
Written by: Rehya Stevens & Gene Black

Blessings to the earth
And good will to man
But if I had one wish, I'd wish
For peace with you again
At Christmas time

All the stars are shinin'
On this holy, holy night
And on this war we've been fighting
When heaven knows
Only love can make it right

So this is my reason for callin'
I wanna to tell you I'm sorry
I was wrong, Baby please come home
Well this is the season for giving
And forgetting
So remember, how I love you so
Baby come home for Christmas
Come home, for Christmas

I may not have all the answers
like the wise men do
But we could cast away our doubts
And we could have faith
in what love can do

All the stars are shinin'
On this lonely, lonely night
And on this love we've been hidin'
When lord knows
Love's the only thing that's gonna make it right

So this is my reason for callin'
I'm here to tell you I'm sorry
I was wrong, Baby please come home
And if you need a reason for giving
And forgetting
Just remember, how I love you so
Baby come home for Christmas
Please come home for Christmas
I was so wrong
Mmmm...
Baby please forgive me

Baby this is my reason for callin'
I'm here to tell you I'm sorry
I was wrong, please come home
Well this is the season for giving
And forgetting
But remember, how I love you so

I still love you so
I can't let you go
I gotta let you know
Baby please come home
Oh I...
I still love you so
I can't let you go
I gotta let you know
Baby please come
Come home
Please, please
Say you'll come on home
For Christmas
I was wrong
Baby...
Please, please
Baby come home for Christmas

Santa Baby

Written by: Joan Javits & Philip Springer

Santa baby, slip a sable under the tree for me
I've been an awful good girl
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa baby, a '54 convertible too, light blue
I'll wait up for you, dear
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Think of all the fun I've missed
Think of all the fellas that I haven't kissed
Next year, I could be just as good
If you check off my Christmas list

Santa baby, I want a yacht and really that's not a lot
I've been an angel all year
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight

Santa honey, one little thing I really need, the deed
To a platinum mine
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight
Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with a duplex and checks
Sign your "X" on the line
Santa cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Come and trim my Christmas tree
With some decorations bought at Tiffany's
I really do believe in you
Let's see if you believe in me

Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing, a ring
I don't mean on the phone
Santa baby, so hurry down my chimney tonight
Hurry down the chimney tonight
Hurry, tonight

Santa Claus is Comin' to Town

Written by: John Frederick Coots and Haven Gillespie

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is comin' to town

He's making a list
He's checking it twice
He's going to find out
Who's naughty and nice
Santa Claus is comin' to town

He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows when you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake

With little tin horns, little tin drums
Rudy-toot-toots and rummy tum tums
Santa Claus is comin' to town
Santa Claus is comin' to town
Santa Claus is comin' to town

He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows when you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is comin' to town
Santa Claus is comin' to town
Santa Claus is comin'
Santa Claus is comin'
Santa Claus is coming to town

So you better be real nice
Cuz Santa Claus is Comin' to Town!

All Through the Night/The Holly & the Ivy

(TRADITIONAL)

Sleep, my child, and peace attend thee
All through the night
Guardian angels God will send thee
All through the night

Soft the drowsy hours are creeping
Hill and dale in slumber sleeping
I my loved ones watch are keeping
All through the night

(Interlude: "The Holly & the Ivy)

O'er thy spirit gently stealing,
Visions of delight revealing
Breathes a pure and holy feeling
All through the night
While the angels sigh
On this holy, holy night
